Having finished his series, Percy Jackson and the Olympians, modernizing Greek mythology, Rick Riordan has started another, The Kane Chronicles, with the same approach to Egyptian mythology. The Red Pyramid is the Book One of The Kane Chronicles.
I actually liked The Red Pyramid better than any of the Percy Jackson novels. I’ve always been more interested in ancient Egypt than in ancient Greece, and at least the first half of The Red Pyramid wasn’t as childish or frantic as the other series.
According to a preview page on Riordan’s website, Book Two is supposed to be release next spring, and Book Three the following year. I’m planning to read them, too.
