Generating Keywords for Research

When I teach second-semester freshman composition classes or others focusing on research, I have my students go through the research process step by step.  After selecting, exploring, and narrowing their topics and developing and refining their research questions, I have them generate keywords to use in various search engines.  Robert Harris’s FOREST LOG scheme (scroll about halfway down the page), which is presented on Virtual Salt, is the best method I’ve found.
